The IT services team (ITSC) at the ETH Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (D-BSSE) in Basel is seeking from summer 2018:Service Desk Analyst The successful candidate will be part of ITSC in Basel. ITSC provides customer-oriented IT services for the academic and administrative staff of the D-BSSE. This is an exciting and active role that provides 1st/2nd level support as part of our small but well-coordinated and motivated team. We are looking for enthusiastic and customer-focussed IT staff, either with experience or with potential to grow skills in our diverse IT environment. We have a mixed platform environment, with Mac, Windows and Linux clients. Activities include computer OS building and configuration, using software deployment systems, patching and updating, lifecycle and inventory management of client computers, user-account management, computer-hardware modifications and fault diagnosis. We are proud to be structured around our customers’ needs, supporting them at our Service Desk or by telephone and ticketing systems, user training, supervision of beamers and conference systems, printing and VoIP telephone systems. We seek individuals who have a genuine interest in supporting people as well as existing technologies, development of new technologies, good self-organisational skills, a communicative team approach, dedication to reliability, flexibility and service-delivery professionalism. The right personality is as important as the skills. BSSE is an international environment, you should be fluent in German OR English, but with a good grasp of both languages.
