Overview

The Senior Cloud Engineer (L3) position at SoftwareONE represents a key role in managing and maintaining the organizations IT services and assets. SoftwareONE anticipates the need to manage hyper-growth for the next several years. The cloud infrastructure is considered one of the cornerstone areas for supporting this hyper-growth.

The Senior Cloud Engineer is part of the Business Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure team for designing secure, efficient, reliable, scalable, highly available and fault tolerant systems on Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure.
Lead efforts to identify appropriate use of cloud architecture best practices. The role demands deep and broad technical skills in multiple technical domains such as applications, server, storage, database, network, and security. The position serves as a senior technical expert for creating an integrated user experience across a broad set of
technologies.

Work Location: Wallisellen, Switzerland

Responsibilities

• Responsible for providing senior level expertise on decisions and priorities regarding the enterprise’s overallsystems architecture.


• Facilitates the establishment and implementation of standards and guidelines that guide the design of
  technology solutions including architecting and implementing solutions requiring integration of multiple
  platforms, operating systems and applications across the enterprise.


• Develops and documents the framework for integration and implementation for changes to technical
  Assists in the development of and manages an architecture governance process.


• Provides technical guidance to project team areas as appropriate. Tracks industry trends and maintains
  knowledge of new technologies to better serve the enterprise’s architecture needs.


• Ensure architectural standards are followed


• Builds and improves the performance of cloud applications and infrastructure.


• Identify and implement necessary improvements in the cloud architecture to align with the architectural
  frameworks and best practices


• Integrates, installs, configures, tests and supports applications for cloud-based services.


• Works closely with Engineering, DevOps and Support teams to reach overall company objectives.


• Develops automation scripts for efficient deployment and operations of cloud and virtualization systems.


• Maintains technical expertise relevant industry standards and best practices in cloud computing and
  virtualization technologies.


• Stays current with the newest cloud computing tools and technologies available.


• Evaluates and reports on new cloud and virtualization technologies to enhance capabilities of cloud- based
  and virtualized services.


• Drives continuous improvement and adoption of best practices to simplify, standardize and consolidate the
  core computing infrastructure wherever it makes sense, to include tools to ensure ease of use for
  organization


• Ensure continuing ability to scale and optimize


• Work and collaborate with different teams and business units


• Shares knowledge with the Engineering & Operations teams


• Provide technical leadership, guidance and support to the Engineering & Operations teams


• Providetechnical support to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical or computer engineering or related degree preferred


• 10+ years of experience in an IT Infrastructure Engineering role


• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in designing, building and supporting multi-regional IaaS/PaaS solutions
  on Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure


• Proven experience with Amazon AWS EC2, VPC, Elastic Load Balancers, Elastic Block Store, S3, Route53,
  CloudWatch, Network Peering


• Proven experience of Microsoft Azure Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Load Balancers, Network
  Peering, Storage Accounts


• Experienced in developing solutions in Hybrid-Cloud environments


• Proven understanding and application of Cloud Infrastructure and Applications Monitoring concepts


• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities


• Demonstrated understanding of Scalability, High Availability & Redundancy concepts


• Demonstrated understanding of Enterprise Security Concepts


• Sound understanding of Networking (TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, VPN)


• Sound understanding of Firewalls, Load Balancers, Web Application Firewalls


• Experienced in Cloud Automation


• Experienced in Scripting technologies such as PowerShell, Python, JSON, YAML


• Sound understanding of Identity & Access Management


• Self-motivated & self-starting individual


• Strong cross-cultural and inter-personal communication skills


• Demonstrated ability to relate well to, and understand the business strategy and requirements in order to
  develop suitable technical solutions


• Excellent oral and written command in English is required, other languages are a plus
  
  

Certifications

• Up-to-date MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure


• AWS Certified SysOps Administrator


• AWS CertifiedAdvanced Networking is a plus
