Software Engineer, Digital TV and Media (English)

TV device partners more rely on the Android TV to bring a first class user experience in the living room. In addition, cable and satellite operators worldwide are deploying set-top-boxes based on Android TV.


With your technical expertise you manage individual projects priorities, deadlines and deliverables. You design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

Android has become the world's most popular mobile ecosystem, powering billions of devices, from smartphones to tablets, watches to TVs and everything in between. Whether adding to the core Android experience, forging new markets for digital content, creating immersive and portable versions of our products or managing relationships with a global community of developers, the Mobile team is giving you Google on the go.


Responsibilities


  • Interact with UX, Partner Engineering, Developer Relations, and Application teams across Google.

  • Assess unknown codebases for a smooth integration of TV technologies and stacks (DVB, HbbTV, HDMI) from external sources in C/C++.

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software.

  • Lead the integration and evolution of core TV media components in the Android TV platform.

  • Help manage a wide variety of issues and bring innovative new features to the TV.


Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:



  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.

  • Coding experience in C, C++, Java or Python.

  • Ability to speak and write in English fluently and idiomatically.


Preferred qualifications:



  • Experience in mobile device, digital AV, video and audio codecs, media players.

  • Extensive knowledge of Android and/or WebKit.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of embedded systems development, RTOS concepts, device drivers and hardware/software integration.
