Frontend Software Developer(80 – 100%)

IT'IS is an independent, nonprofit research organization closely associated with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, with a focus on measurement and simulation of the electromagnetic near-field, advanced computational life sciences (CLS) simulation tools and dedicated high-quality evaluation and test systems. Currently, we are expanding our CLS activities and are looking for a dynamic, motivated, and experienced Frontend Software Developer to strengthen our multi-disciplinary group. The team is responsible for the development of Sim4Life as well as for the web based open-source platform o2S2PARC.

Your challenges:

  • Development of a user-friendly and reliable front-end for a cloud-based CLS simulation platform
  
  
  • Integration of 2D and 3D visualization for large meshes and scientific simulation data
  
  
  • Working on a real-time web application with complex data flows
  
  
  • Translation of complex scientific work-flows into easy-to-use and intuitive user interfaces
  
  

Your strengths:

• University or technical college degree (Bachelor, Master, or PhD) in Information Technology, Computer Sciences and/or a degree in visual design/visual arts (or equivalent expertise)


• Expertise in JavaScript and related frameworks (Qooxdoo, react, etc.)


• Expertise in visualization libraries (Three.js, plotly.js, svg.js, etc.)


• Experience with client-server APIs (websocket, REST, Thrift)


• Flair for translating wireframes and mockups into visually appealing UI designs


• Self-motivation, friendly, outgoing personality, with the ability to learn quickly


• Strong written and oral communication skills: fluency in English – both oral and written – required, German language skills also preferred
