The Challenge

Are you passionate about innovation? Do you want to contribute to the development of new transformational beauty care ingredients? Are you familiar with screening cosmetic ingredients and developing new test methods for cosmetic formulation? Then join our Application & Development Team within our Personal Care Research and Development Department based in Kaiseraugst, Switzerland. Our Personal Care Business unit, established in 2009 in Kaiseraugst, currently plays an important role in the “active ingredients” market segment with a core portfolio in skin care, sun care and hair care. With foresight, imagination and a deeply rooted sense of beauty we connect and leverage our bright science in skin, sun and hair care to craft transformational beauty care ingredients and concepts that are loved for their superior performance, ultimate sensation and impeccable quality and reliability.

As Global Head of Application Hair Care you will actively participate in the development of new ingredients and actives for hair care applications. With a strong chemistry background, including polymers expertise, you will lead the physicochemical product evaluation covering interface, rheology and in-use properties of an ingredient.  An in-depth formulation know-how of hair care application forms in combination with a good understanding of the structure-performance relation of an ingredient is preferred. You will work in cooperation with our highly skilled formulation and application teams to provide our customers with best-in-class solutions in a challenging environment. This vacancy is available as of 1st January 2019.

The Position

• Evaluation of new raw ingredients for their use in cosmetic products


• Efficacy screening for hair applications including sensorial analysis


• Characterization of physicochemical properties of technical ingredients in dispersion and emulsion processes, such as polymeric systems


• Development of hair care formulations and re; troubleshooting of formulation issues


• Development of application tests methods


• Reporting of results with derived conclusions and follow-up activities


• Inventions and patent monitoring


• Efficient laboratory organization in line with our safety, health and environment standard (SHE)

The Ideal

• Master of Science in applied chemistry, or polymer chemistry, and cosmetology, or related fields


• Minimum of five years of experience in product development and technical customer support


• Broad knowledge in personal care applications preferred


• High interest in laboratory experiments and creative problem solving


• Fluent in English, good German language skills appreciated   


• Team player, open-minded and communicative personality


• Well-organized, autonomous, determined way of working and solution-oriented
