This position may be offered on a labour leasing contract.

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is an international organisation promoting global monetary and financial stability and is a bank for central banks. We are looking for a Customer Support Officer (up to 80%) to join the Back Office of our Banking Department.

Purpose of the job: 



  • Reconciliation of Confirmations and Settlements.

  • Performing Static Data maintenance and Audit requests.

Principal accountabilities: 



  • Ability to cover a variety of Back Office tasks, possibly on a rotational basis. These include:

    • Investigate and resolve confirmation mismatches and settlement failures together with front office, custodians and customers.

    • Static data and settlement instructions maintenance.

    • Participation in small IT projects.

    • Production of reports.    


Qualification and skills:  



  • Commercial diploma or equivalent.

  • Fluent spoken and written English.

  • Good knowledge of financial instruments.

  • Good experience of S.W.I.F.T messaging formats.

  • Knowledge of Reuters & Bloomberg information systems.

  • Flexible, cooperative, good team member.

  • Ability to work methodically and accurately even under pressure.

  • Customer-focused.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and promptly.

  • Computer literacy.

  • Fluency in English. Knowledge of German, French or other world languages desirable.

Work experience:  



  • Minimum of one year’s work experience in Back, Middle or Front office activities.

  • Desirable: Experience with integrated Trading systems.

The BIS’s head office is located in Basel, Switzerland, with representative offices in Hong Kong SAR and Mexico City.
