iptiQ EMEA Property & Casualty is a newly built unit within Swiss Re Life Capital, established to deliver digital-native and creative solutions for Property & Casualty (P&C) clients and partners across Europe that engage with consumers in non-traditional ways.
About the role
As one of the DevOps Engineers, you will have a unique and exciting opportunity to join us: a diverse and motivated team, committed to delivering value and innovative services together with our clients and partners in the primary insurance space.
Your responsibilities include:
• Identify areas of improvement and introduce improved delivery and release practices
• Design, build and support cloud infrastructure
• Automate development, operational, testing and delivery processes and tooling
• Design, build, and support business relevant monitoring and analytic tooling
• Understand and respect the compliance, legal, regulatory frameworks and then build tools and infrastructure in accordance
• Communicate technical information concisely to internal and external audiences
• Work within a cross-functional team that includes internal and external business stakeholders
• Build networks and strong relationships across different cultures and working environments
• Work closely with development, test teams and infrastructure teams within and outside of iptiQ-P&C in order to understand challenges and support driving improvements
• Embody the end-to-end ownership mindset
• Be driven to provide a best in class customer experience
About the team
We put the consumers' needs at the centre of what we do, aim to become a digital champion and believe in data based learning. We use the Swiss Re network to access state of the art technologies and capabilities, combine it with local expertise and an innovative mind-set, constantly questioning current ways of offering insurance. Our aim is to drive the digitalisation of the P&C insurance business in Europe, combining insurance know-how and e-commerce competencies, as well as the dynamic spirit of a start-up with the backing of Swiss Re.

About you
• University degree (Master's equivalent) in Business Administration/ Operations or Information Technology or equivalent
• At least 5 years' experience Software Development or Operations in a DevOps focused role
• Hands-on working experience of WebLogic (or equivalent Java Middleware) and Oracle
• Hands-on working experience with tools such as: GIT, Maven, Jenkins, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, SonarQube
• Strong skills in ruby or python as well as bash scripting
• Solid knowledge and experience of system/app administration, scripting, network operations and DB concepts
• Experience in cloud capabilities from multiple providers (AWS and Azure), and with APM tools such as AppDynamics or NewRelic
• Strong background in testing techniques and QA methods (BDD)
• Experience with Agile methodologies - TDD/Scrum/Kanban
• Superb communication and presentation skills
• Analytical thinking, structured approach to address complex topics
• Strong team player and able to work in an environment of high levels of change and complexity
• Entrepreneurial and customer-orientation, focus, and mindset
• Results-oriented and results-driven
• Willingness to work remote and available for periodic travel
• Fluency in English
