Novocure is a global publicly-traded commercial-stage oncology company developing a profoundly different cancer treatment therapy called tumor treating fields (TTFields) for patients with solid tumors. TTFields therapy is a non-invasive, novel, antimitotic treatment modality which utilizes proprietary technology attempting to slow or reverse tumor progression by inducing tumor cell death. Novocure's commercialized product, Optune, is approved for the treatment of adult patients with glioblastoma (GBM) in the USA, Europe and Israel. Novocure has ongoing or completed clinical trials and is further expanding its efforts into several other solid tumor indications - non-small cell lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer and other types of solid cancers. 

 

To support our global procurement team based in Root, Switzerland we are looking for a

 

Global Category Manager - Direct Materials

This function plays an important role in securing business continuity through robust supply base strategy and overall contributes to the business growth and profitability. You will be responsible for the development and execution of the sourcing strategies as well as your ability to reach targets for significant cost reductions, improving product quality and vendor service levels. Additionally, in the role of Global Category Manager you will be responsible for supporting the Swiss entity in direct procurement of commodities such as ceramics, CMO, batteries, electronics and hydrogels.

 

Your responsibilities:

• Understand direct spends across the business for Tier 1, Tier 2 and beyond critical vendors.


• Analyze category markets and translate into actionable strategies and forward-looking analysis.


• Develop category expertise, maintain market intelligence and stays abreast of the changing supply base and new technologies.


• Work closely together with engineering and manufacturing groups


• Lead efforts that drive cost optimization, improve quality and service and enhanced innovation through strategic sourcing, supplier relationship and risk management.


• Collaborate with key stakeholders upstream and downstream to ensure engagement, buy-in and ownership of key sourcing strategies.


• Lead Supplier Selection and Negotiation through the RFP Process.


• Lead and develop risk management strategies to increase awareness and ensure implementation of appropriate risk mitigation plans.


• Drive and deliver cost savings opportunities aligned with organization commitments.

 

Your profile:

• 5-8 years of procurement experience in Global Direct Category Management.


• Strategic sourcing expertise and solid understanding of sourcing methodologies and tools.


• Bachelor's degree in purchasing, engineering, finance, Information systems, or business administration; MBA preferred.


• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing sourcing strategies that have yielded measurable business results.


• Experience leading Project teams in a global and complex environment.


• Strategic thinking and thought leadership including the ability to see ahead and thinks in terms of possibilities; creating a clear vision and strategy.


• People leadership and team building experience and a proven ability to inspire and motivate others including attracting, developing and retaining talent.


• Ability to get things done and multi-task; to act with a sense of urgency and to take on tactical roles to achieve objectives.


• Excellent prioritization skills as well as strong decision making/judgment skills will round your profile out.


• Fluency in German and English, both in oral and in written communication, other EU languages will be an asset


• Ability and willingness to travel (30% of time)
