Role purpose

Regulatory leadership of assigned plant protection products to ensure delivery of the Lawn & Garden (L&G) portfolios’ objectives in line with agreed business strategies.


Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement robust strategies to support the assigned portfolios (ornamental control, garden control, turf and landscape) of L&G products in EAME 

  • Manage contacts with several third parties involved on regulatory matters for garden control.

  • Defend and advocate the Syngenta strategy in relation to the assigned portfolio opposite regulatory bodies

  • Provide high quality regulatory advice and foresight to wider EAME Regulatory community and key stakeholders (e.g. business, development, global) to support the development of the EAME L&G strategy

  • Provide regulatory insights into competitor portfolios to wider EAME Regulatory community and key stakeholders (e.g. business, development, global) to support the development of the EAME L&G portfolio strategy.

  • Develop knowledge in EU and global registration processes and requirements for plant protection products, biocontrols and biocides and provide guidance to stakeholders accordingly

  • Obtain and maintain EU approval of L&G products in line with agreed portfolio objectives through



    • Leadership of the EAME L&G Project Teams (EPT) in relation with ERPT lead by the regulatory managers of the other indications 

    • Effective management of relations and communication with Authorities and wider EAME Regulatory team 

    • Effective partnership with relevant project teams to facilitate business decisions and represent regulatory and product safety positions


  • In partnership with EAME Regulatory Operations team and wider EAME Regulatory obtain and maintain EU Member State product authorizations in line with agreed business objectives through



    • Effective partnership with relevant project teams across the crop protection indications teams to represent regulatory and safety positions and facilitate L&G business decisions 

    • Effective management of relations and communication with Member State regulatory authorities and wider EAME Regulatory team


  • Provide regulatory support to non-EU Syngenta territorial organizations within the EAME region and beyond to enable and support authorizations. 

  • Take ownership and lead and drive min. 1 regulatory or technical focus in EPR; provide wider regulatory team (incl. GPR as appropriate) with insights and updates



    • Serve as center of expertise within EAME regulatory for any assigned focus role

    • Share current understanding and potential developments to the wider regulatory community


  • Mentoring of max. 1 assigned regulatory specialist or junior regulatory manager as appropriate

  • Represent Syngenta in the GAPEC ECPA working group and contribute to shape and defend consumer uses of crop protection products in EU28

 

Qualifications

 
Experience required 

  • Working in project teams

  • Fluent in English in technical discussions and advocacy

  • Effective time and task management to ensure delivery of the business needs

Minimum education and critical knowledge required 

  • Scientific background in one of the disciplines relevant for regulatory

  • Understanding of regulatory processes in the EU – Advanced level

  • Good understanding of agriculture in EU28
