Team Leader Process Engineering

 

Through leading innovations, we help farmers around the world meet the challenge of feeding a growing population and taking care of our planet. We are currently seeking a Team Leader Process Engineering for the Process Engineering team in Münchwilen AG. As a Team Leader Process Engineering you will help meet the world’s most pressing needs by:

• Providing process and chemical engineering assessments supporting scale up development and optimisation of unit operations and chemical stages over a range of development projects for the production of new active substances and intermediates.


• Leading a process technology laboratory team.


• Carrying out technical investigations and introducing technologies to existing manufacturing processes.


• Providing specific manufacturing support on processes both internally and externally for the introduction of new processes.


• Representing the engineering function within project teams and leading engineering projects within Global PT New AI.


• Providing chemical engineering support for capital projects.

 

Accountabilities

 

• Ensuring correct scale up of unit operations associated with the manufacture of active ingredient and intermediate stages from laboratory to production scale is performed.


• Identifying process safety, health and environmental issues related to process development and ensuring appropriate safety precautions can be implemented.


• Coordination and leadership of a team of 1-2 laboratory workers with responsibility for:

  • all aspects of relevant HSE issues
  
  
  • provision and maintenance of laboratory equipment
  
  
  • training and development of the laboratory team
  
  


• Preparation of experimental plans for laboratory and bench scale programmes and for ensuring these are carried out correctly.


• Carrying out the design, documentation, training and preparation for pilot plant scale trials, supervision of pilot plant trials with responsibility for the technical aspects of the process.


• Correct specification of equipment requirements for production scale plant in support of capital projects.

 

Qualifications

 

• Understanding of chemical engineering principles. In particular, knowledge of distillation, crystallisation and reaction technology is required.


• Awareness and understanding of process safety, health issues arising from chemical operations and environmental aspects of chemical production.


• Recent graduate chemical or process engineer with up to 3 years’ experience in a chemical production or process development environment or equivalent experience.


• Fluent spoken German, fluent spoken and written English.


• Communicate inspirationally and regularly on project activities.


• Effective planning with flexibility to respond to changing situation and uncertainty.
