We are looking for a motivated scientist to explore biomedical datasets to increase molecular disease understanding in order to match treatment concepts.


The Post-doctoral scientist will use available tools and algorithms currently used for a wide variety of datasets, from genomics to text mining. By applying data extraction and aggregation techniques, the candidate will explore novel workflows, evaluate the outcome and design novel methodologies. The ultimate aim is to establish a methodology for in silico indication finding and prioritization for novel treatment concepts. A detailed research proposal will be available in a last selection round.


 


Job Responsibilities


 



  • Explore, list and assess relevant internal and external biomedical datasets.

  • Assess the use of available data mining and data analysis techniques including statistical quantitative models and AI such as machine learning.

  • Develop workflows and accepted means for validation of predicted outcome.

  • Report internally to project teams.

  • Present data at scientific conferences and publish comprehensive findings in peer-reviewed journals.


 


Candidate's Requirement


 



  • A PhD in bioinformatics or any other life sciences discipline where a computational expertise was obtained.

  • Industry experience would be a valuable asset.

  • Proficient in the English language. German and/or French would be an advantage.

  • Expert knowledge in omics information resources and more advanced pathway / biological network analysis.

  • Practical knowledge of Machine Learning based methods and techniques.

  • Strong background in computational analysis and experienced in using statistical packages such as R.

  • Experience with data interpretation and visualization tools (e.g. Qiagen IPA, Metacore, Cytoscape, Spotfire...) of advantage.

  • Familiar working within a UNIX environment. Basic scripting and programming skills (e.g. Python, Java).

  • Experience in one or more therapeutic areas of interest to Idorsia (CNS, immunology, oncology and CV/fibrosis) would be an advantage.

  • Demonstrated experience of working in multicultural, multidisciplinary and matrix environments.
