MISSION

The Design Technology Technician will provide support to teaching staff and classes within the Design department in the Secondary School. The incumbent will work closely with the Head of Design to support the agenda of STEAM learning through the Nord Anglia collaboration with MIT.

DUTIES & RESPONSABILITIES

• To work alongside teachers during lessons and assist designing and making during activities


• Routine checking of workshop premises and equipment within the design area to ensure good Health and Safety


• Ensure supplies of appropriate materials and equipment are available for use and any other centrally stocked supplies are obtained


• Prepare, provide and return tools, equipment and materials as necessary to enable staff and students to function effectively


• Routine and minor maintenance within the design area as required


• Jointly responsible with the Head of Design for operating CAD/CAM/CNC equipment and software


• To liaise with the Head of Design, Operations and Site Manager, Principal and Head of Secondary School and be familiar with the school’s policies on Health and Safety and be proactive in ensuring the safety of all members of the school community at all times. 

PROFILE

• Relevant University qualifications from a recognised institution


• Experience in subject/curriculum development that embraces project-based learning


• Confident and competent user of ICT/CAD/CAM in the classroom to enhance learning outcomes


• Flexible and adaptable


• Proactive in all aspects of school life


• Creative and innovative with an eye-for-detail and a determination to see tasks through from beginning to end


• Talented communicator, both orally and in writing


• Able to work successfully under pressure


• Reliable and respectful at all times


• Has a positive and proactive attitude towards participation with CPD and the school’s APT (Ambitious Performance Tracker) and appraisal processes.
