Job Description
In collaboration with all relevant Global functions including medical, Value & Access, CE&O, PO&T, Finance, compliance, legal they will define and deliver all aspects of pre-launch operations in EU+. Whilst not leading all aspects of this work they will be responsible for ensuring that there is a consistent approach to the work across the geography. (details Below). In addition, it will represent EU+ AD to Global and EU+ leadership teams and in partnership and alignment with Global set the EU+ vision for AD launch. This position will report to global and to Head of Europe and will be a member of the EU+ LT.
Key responsibilities
• Define prelaunch / launch strategy, roadmap and budget planning for Europe
• Confirm pan-European launch scenarios, identify risks and develop plans accordingly
• Work with global team to develop launch sequence by country in Europe based on disease potential, regulatory and data generation assessment
• Initial point of contact for Eisai in Europe to build partnership approach and ensure coordinated commercial prelaunch activities, leveraging the strength of both companies and efficiencies of the partnership
• Coordinate market & customer key activities on behalf of the markets in early prelaunch phase
• Partner with global diagnostic pathway team to ensure solutions for European markets at time of launch
• Chair ELOT and represent Europe on GLOT
• Work to ensure appropriate distribution process is set up for launch countries
• Ensure there is an in depth and consistent external engagement process in place that is scalable across multiple countries
• Oversee creation and delivery of an internal education program to be cascaded through affiliate teams
• Lead EU+ in defining affiliate structures aiming for a maximum of three archetypes
• Ensure above the market co create process for materials production is ready and able to deliver on time
• Ensure Strategy for AD and Global decisions with EU+ impact are evaluated and escalated to leadership in a timely manner
• Ensure successful representation of EU+ in the label, distribution and G2MM discussions across the functions
• Ensure consistent execution of Global Brand strategy across the EU+ region
• Track and monitor executional performance, identify Regional operational issues and provide guidance on solutions to EU+ Commercial Leadership as appropriate
• Manage the F&S budget for AD across functions and the region – launch trajectory, forecasting
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be an experienced individual with a strong track record of operational launch success in the European pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry. He/she must have the proven ability to lead cross functional teams and ensures strong execution in a multinational market. The successful candidate will be a credible, dynamic and creative professional with the energy to lead the coordination of pan-European launch activities. The ideal candidate will thrive on challenge. The successful candidate will be highly collaborative, perceptive, have strategic oversight and the ability to prioritize & get things done. He/she will be someone who manifests trust, and is known for his/her ethics and integrity, and works successfully in a team environment. This individual will possess excellent communication skills and a strong personal presence. Importantly, the successful candidate will put patients first and have a significant respect for science.
Required Skills
• 15+ years in biotech/pharma industry
• Strategic and operational track record
• P&L responsibility
• Experience in a local market launch and/or pan-European launch
• Experience in AD with relationships to key stakeholders
• Led cross functional teams
• Project management - ability to map activities across functional areas and prioritize prelaunch/launch activities for Region
• Strong leadership, planning and organization, analytics, decision making and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to identify priorities, align strategic and tactical plans and motivate a team of cross-functional partners is required
• Effective communication skills and gravitas to represent Biogen internally and most importantly externally on all levels including governments
