The job holder will be responsible for underwriting profitable new and renewal business to meet Financial Lines targets as well as for negotiating pricing and terms and conditions. Furthermore it is expected that this person develops and maintains strong relationships with brokers and clients.
Underwrite profitable financial lines business
This encompasses mainly directors’ and officers’ liability (D&O) and cyber insurance but also pension trustee liability (PTL), professional indemnity (P.I.) and other special risks such as public offering of securities insurance
Underwrite in line with Financial Lines governance framework - e.g. Underwriting Authorities, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles and global pricing tools
Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets
Negotiate participation, pricing and terms and conditions with brokers and clients (where applicable)
Policy Documentation and AdministrationEnsure accurate policy documentation
Set up international insurance programs by analyzing geographic exposures, determining a proper premium allocation and hand over to the AGCS Operations team for the instruction of the relevant AGCS network companies all over the world
Ensure that the electronic underwriting file is established and maintained for each risk and transaction handled
Support reporting duties for the financial lines
Market & Relationship ManagementProactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and broker negotiations where applicable)
Proactively liaise with the market management function on client and broker initiatives
Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. risk managers)
Experience & Education:
Preferably Degree in Economics, Law, or other appropriate discipline
A minimum of 3 to 5 years proven track record in underwriting financial lines business
Good understanding of the financial lines insurance markets and competitor landscape
Ability to deliver a high quality job performance constantly, also under time constraints
Technical Skills:Risk Assessment and Management: Ability to assess risk exposures relevant to financial lines. This includes a basic understanding (or at least an interest and willingness to learn) of cyber risk and IT security topics.
Policy Management: Robust understanding of policy administration life cycle, including information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control and cancellation
Contract Drafting and Interpretation: Design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings
IT skills (Office applications): Use general office application tools e.g. Power Point, Excel, Word, as well as the AGCS IT systems
Fluent in German and English, French skills are an advantage
Other SkillsAnalytical Skills: Ability to analyze highly complex data, from multiple sources, in detail
Influencing skills: Ability to persuade and motivate others to act, without executive authority
Communication & Presentation: Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally.
Ability to "sell" an improvised or prepared audience winning story
Ability to work in an international organization with cross-border teams and responsibilities
Valid working permit for Switzerland is needed
